The blue half of Manchester knew they had to beat visiting Everton to reclaim the second position on the EPL table after Liverpool trashed Arsenal yesterday.

Playing in front of their fans, City had to patiently wait until a minute to the end of the first half to beat the determined Toffees defense.

Raheem Sterling put a disappointing season behind him to score from a great pass from Joao Cancelo in the 44th minute to make it 1-0 to Man City.

Sterling is the only player to have broken Augero’s stranglehold on the ‘top goalscorer’ tag for the Blues in recent seasons, but he has gone off the boil dramatically in the last nine months

Everton retained enough of a threat on the counter and the Blues needed a second goal to get comfortable.

The home side, however, continued to dominate proceedings in the second half and Rodri made the pressure count when he scored in the 55th minute to make it 2-0 after Allan made a defensive blunder.

They added a third when Palmer, seeking a goal to cap a hard-working performance, saw his shot blocked, and Bernardo Silva in typical fashion was the first to react, sliding the ball under Pickford.

The match referee brought proceedings to an end after an additional 4 minutes, the result took the home side above Liverpool into second place and 3 points shy of the EPL leader, Chelsea.

Their next game is another home game on Sunday, November 28, against 4th placed West Ham United.
