Premier League champions, Manchester City are back at the top of the league after beating Fulham 2-1 at the Craven Cottage.

Prior to the encounter, Arsenal, who were top of the English top flight, were widely tipped to lift the trophy for the first time since 2004, but a 4-1 defeat in the hands of Man City on Wednesday handed the Citizens the driving seat.

The visitors opened the scoring as early as the 3rd minute when Tim Ream was adjudged to have tripped Julian Alvarez in the penalty box by the referee.

Erling Haaland stepped forward and put the spot kick away with the left foot, beating Bernd Leno who was close to denying him the opportunity.

However, Fulham grabbed a 15th minute equaliser with their first attempt of the match as Carlos Vinicius powerfully shot past Ederson after Harry Wilson had headed the ball into his path.

After that, Jack Grealish had an effort pushed on to the crossbar for the Citizens, who regained their lead in the 36th minute through Alvarez’s superb strike from 25 yards out.
