Ita Daniel, aged 70, has been paraded by the police in Akwa Ibom State for killing his wife with a machete in their one-room apartment.
Daniel, from Mbi Okporo village in Nsit-Ibium Council, allegedly killed Alice, 60, over alleged acts of adultery.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in-charge of state criminal investigation department, Mike Okoli, said the suspect confessed to the crime.
The police also arrested Daniel Edet (19) for allegedly killing his aunt, Glory Edet Ebere (44).
Okoli recounted that Edet, a student of Uduak Obom Comprehensive Secondary, was living with Ebere but left her suddenly for an unknown destination.
When Edet returned on June 11 and Ebere refused to let him back into the house, he strangled her to death, collected her car key and left the corpse in the room which he locked.
Edet later came back to the house with a friend, Effiong James, cooked and slept in the room with the decomposed body.
The crime came to light when the two suspects were making plans to remove the corpse after arranging for an ambulance.
Both Edet and James confessed to the crime, according to Okoli.
Edet told journalists: “I don’t know what actually led me into killing my aunty, I think it is out of greed.’’
In a separate interview, Daniel told TheNiche that his wife left him several times but was coming back to the house with other men.
“We were no longer together but she was still bringing men to my house. When I complained she would beat me up. There was a day we had a disagreement and fight ensued and my legs were injured,” he narrated.
“That fateful day I was sleeping in the room when she came and said she would either kill me or I killed her. That was how it happened.”
The three suspects would soon be charged to court, police said.
