Bauchi state chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed the confirmation of Senator Ahmed Makarfi by the Supreme Court as the party’s national chairman.
Bauchi State Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the party, Alhaji Yayanuwa Zainabari, said that the chapter was fully in support of the former Kaduna State governor because party members from the state participated in the convention held in Port Harcourt last year, which produced him as chairman.
He urged the former factional Chairman, Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff, his supporters and all PDP stalwarts across the country to accept the judgment in good faith and work vigorously towards the party’s success in future elections.
He appealed to members, who defected to other parties as a result of internal crisis to come back.
Zainabari also alleged that since the inception of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) government in 2015 at the federal and some states, they had been witch-hunting opposition members through detentions and arrests ‘with a view to silencing them from constructive criticisms which are essential in democracy’.
According to him, the present APC administration nationwide has performed below expectation since taken over two years ago.
”Let us tell them that PDP will never be intimidated. Arrests, detentions and all forms of persecution cannot deter us from speaking the truth and demanding for good governance. PDP remains the most principled and formidable party in Nigeria that is determined to enlighten the electorate continuously on the happenings in the country.
“And we are very optimistic that come 2019, we will bounce back because APC government has failed woefully,” he said.
