D’Tigress center, Victoria Macaulay, on Saturday, said she and her teammates had to go the extra mile to beat Senegal and qualify for the final of 2025 Women’s AfroBasket.
The 34-year-old made this known while speaking after Nigeria defeated their fellow West Africans for the ninth consecutive time.

Senegal started brightly and led 11-2, but Nigeria rallied to lead 22-17 at the end of the first quarter and headed into half-time with a 43-37 lead.
Cierra Dillard then won 26 points, seven rebounds, and three assists to help Senegal outscore Nigeria 21-9 and edge the third quarter 54-50. , .

However, Ezinne Kalu and her teammates ensured D’Tigress outscored Senegal 10–3 in the last three minutes of the decisive final quarter and ended the game 75-68.
Following the close encounter, Macaulay admitted that the victory was a hard fought one, stressing that the D’Tigress had to dig deep and give their all.
She said, “On defense, we had to dig deep, trust each other, and get stops. We got there, and we won the game. I am thankful for my girls and for giving our all and playing together.”
