Brand new DStv premium channel, M-Net Edge, which hopes to take television connoisseurs to the edge of entertainment, plans to be the future home of HBO in Africa.
M-Net has signed an agreement with the United States television network to screen all first-run HBO series as well as library material exclusively on M-Net Edge.
HBO classic, The Sopranos, is scheduled for weekdays and viewers will enjoy the fifth and final season of Boardwalk Empire, the period drama starring Steve Buscemi, which has garnered a long list of prestigious awards over the years.
Among other HBO shows to be premiered on M-Net Edge at a later stage are new seasons of The Newsroom, Veep, Girls, Silicon Valley, The Leftovers, and Looking.
There will also be masterpieces like Rome, Banshee, and The Wire.

HBO President (Programme Sales), Charles Schreger, said M-Net Edge adopted the ‘Home of HBO’ model which has proven to be successful in many other countries around the world.
