Abure said no amount of threat in the aftermath of the election will make him and the party leadership deter in the fight for the new Nigeria.

National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, has embarked on a multi-cities tour of the United States of America to thank the party’s Nigerian diaspora faithful for their unwavering support in the party’s commitment to the realisation of a new Nigeria devoid of corruption.

Mr Abure made his first stop in Washington DC, speaking at well-attended town hall meetings with Nigerians who asked questions on wide-ranging issues of concern relating to their country. He was accompanied to the events by the chairman of the United States chapter of the party, Prof. Eddie Oparaoji, and members of the party chapter’s tour organising committee.

He said that the party is encouraged by what he called the overwhelming support of Nigerians from across board and will in line with their general desire, remain steadfast in the pursuit of the overall development of the country based on fairness, equity, good conscience and justice.

His words: “I want to thank you all our supporters for the immense support given to the LP during the last elections. The successes recorded by the party would not have been possible if not for the effort put in by the diaspora LP. Despite the manipulations of those cheats taking Nigeria backwards against the will of its people, your support was part of the reason why today, the party has 8 Senators, 35 House of Representatives members and many states’ House of Assembly members in states and won the presidency.

“Even after all the manipulations rubbed on the faces of Nigerians and the entire world, the result they wrote acknowledged that we won in 12 states. I believe strongly that our Presidential candidate, Mr. Obi will become president. That is why they are losing sleep and have remained restless after all the evil they did in the election manipulation. They murdered sleep and will sleep no more. They have stolen what is not theirs and will not sleep until we recover it all.”

Abure said no amount of threat in the aftermath of the election would discourage him and the party leadership in the fight for the new Nigeria that Nigerians worked tirelessly for before and during the last elections.

“Let me be clear about our commitment. We will continue to push for what Nigerians need as a people and will not relent. After the election, when they noticed that the presidential candidates of some parties left the country, they were urging us to leave our country and we said we are not leaving. They are not happy and are still panicking even after taking what is not theirs. They have made life more difficult for Nigerians with the policies they chose to impose on the people. Things have gotten worse from the bad situation, hunger, poverty and squalor increased, and killings go on everywhere, especially in states controlled by them.

“They have proven that they do not have the capacity and what it takes to solve Nigeria’s problems which only Peter Obi has among all those aspiring to lead. We have provided overwhelming evidence to the tribunal and given the mountain of evidence, the courts would have no choice but to recover that mandate and give it to the man who won. Thanks for all the support right from the airport till now,” he said amid ovations at the first event held at the Double Tree Hilton in Laurel, Maryland.

Answering a question from a member of the audience on a recent news report purporting that he has been removed as the LP National Chairman by a court, Abure explained that the Court of Appeal had since affirmed him as the authentic chairman of the party, adding that those behind the said court orders were hirelings paid to do so just to create a false impression of division which does not exist in the party.

Speaking earlier during his opening remarks to welcome Abure, the chairman of the United States chapter of the party, Prof. Oparaoji pledged the chapter’s unalloyed support and loyalty to the party’s leadership under the presidential candidate, Obi, Vice Presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, and Abure. He further lauded the LP leadership as having already shown by the followership they command among Nigerians that positive political change is possible with good leadership in Nigeria despite what he called the opposition of such desirable change by agents of backwardness stifling the country.

Oparaoji told the crowd gathered that all the effort so far made at usurping the position of the LP National Chairman through kangaroo court judgements in the past and recent times was to pull Obi down and hoist the fraud perpetrated during the last election. He then urged the party faithful to ignore the instigators of such court actions and submit to the authority of Abure whom he described as a “fine gentleman, a good leader and person of honour and integrity.”
