A faction of Labour Party (LP) has told party members to disregard a recent directive by its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi to snub its flag bearers in the upcoming by-elections across the country.
The party gave the counter directive in a statement signed by a factional chairman of the party, Julius Abure.
Obi on Thursday asked his supporters to vote for candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), during the forthcoming by-elections.
He also urged them not to vote for the LP because it has no recognised candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), due to the lingering internal crisis
He wrote, “Kindly note that because the Labour Party has no recognised candidates by INEC due to the internal crisis.
“I humbly urge every member of Obidient and COPDEM families to go out and vote for the coalition political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their respective states.”

Reacting to the directive, Abure insisted the party is on the ballot for the by-elections, stressing that Nigerians now know who Obi really is.
He went on to say the former Anambra State governor’s directive is misleading, mischievous and delusional.
He further urged party members to ignore what he described as malicious directive and go ahead with casting of their votes for the Labour Party and their candidates.
“The attention of the leadership of the Labour Party has been drawn to a statement by the party’s former presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi. Don’t listen to him.
“Nigerians have come to know who Peter Obi really is,” Abure said.
