LP accuses Tinubu of planning to use state capture for vilification

By Jeph Ajobaju, Chief Copy Editor

Bola Tinubu is plotting to use the affirmation of his Aso Rock job by the Supreme Court to swoop on the officials of the Labour Party (LP), including its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as part of Tinubu’s celebration of state capture, the LP has alerted.

It has long been alleged Tinubu sponsors and funds Lamidi Apapa and his fellow rebels to discredit and destabilise the LP. Apapa and his renegades have been suspended from the LP but they have not relented in attacking Obi and the LP.

LP Chairman Julius Abure raised an alarm at the weekend about another plot by the federal government to suppress himself, Obi, and other members of the Obedient Movement following the ruling of the Supreme Court on October 6.

Abure said because the LP disagrees with the judgment, and  the vilification agenda of the authorities is to destroy LP’s mission to rescue Nigeria from the grip of criminal gangs.

“It is also pertinent to put on record that we have it on very good authority that the government may have marked some Labour Party, LP’s key leaders, especially and our leader and presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi, in particular for vilification, to suppress the party, suffocate our team, and our goal of a New Nigeria,” he disclosed.

“The planned persecution, intimidation, suppression and harassment of our leaders using security agencies and all other government institutions will be defended.”

LP members, Obidient family to brace up for challenges ahead

Abure urged LP members at all levels as well as members of the ‘Obidient family’ to be vigilant and brace up for the challenges ahead, according to reporting by Vanguard.

“The struggle for a New Nigeria will certainly be tortuous and hard. We are also calling on the international community to rise to the occasion to defend democracy in Nigeria.

“Your voices were loud and clear in condemnation of the outcome of the presidential election.

“As we approach the next stage of our democratic journey, we call on you to stand by the millions of Nigerians who are already pushed beyond their limits into unnecessary hardship and penury.”

The struggle by LP’s founding fathers to build a nation where truth and justice shall reign and enthrone democracy cannot be destroyed, Abure stressed, but described the Supreme Court judgment as “another sad day for democracy in Nigeria.”
