Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman, was named Man of the Match despite his team’s 3-2 defeat to La Liga giants, Real Madrid in Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) match.

Lookman scored again for the Serie A side, but it was just a consolation goal as they lost for the first time in the competition this season.

The Super Eagles sticker found the net  in the 65th minute of the encounter to make it a respectable scoreline for the Italian side.

France international, Kylian Mbappe got the ball rolling with a goal as early as the 10th minute, breaking clear of his marker before finishing smartly.

Atalanta restored parity on the stroke of half time when Charles De Ketelaere scored a penalty after defender, Sead Kolasinac went down inside the box.

Real Madrid battled back after the break as Vinicius Jr found the bottom corner with a neat finish on his return from a hamstring injury before Jude Bellingham fired home for his first goal in the Champions League this season.

Lookman then gave Atalanta hope with his 11th goal of the season, whipping a shot in at the near post, but the Spanish outfit held off late pressure to take three crucial points.

The win moved the Los Blanco up to 18th in the 36-team league and three points off the top eight, who qualify automatically for the knockout stage of the European competition.

Atalanta on the other hand, now sit in ninth place on 11 points in the league table.

The Italian club will round off the league phase against Sturm Graz at home and away to Barcelona.
