Nollywood actress, Chiege Alisigwe, speaks to Women’s Editor, TEMITOPE OJO, on her fashion sense and what determines her looks.
How best do you like to dress?
I love to look good. I’m always ready whenever; I’m always ready to be on the go.
What’s your best accessory?
If I must be honest with you, I might not go with any accessory at all. I have a whole lot, but it is only when I’m coming out that I use it because I know a lot of people are looking at me. So, I try to put on something. But the real me would rather not go with any accessory.
What won’t you go out without?
I must always have my sunglasses. I never go out without my sunglasses. Even if I forget it while going out, I will go back to get it.
Then you must have a whole lot. Can you count them?
Because I can be quite forgetful, I leave some in the car.
Would it be right to say that is your most prized fashion item?
A lot of things are most prized for me. Sunglasses may not necessarily be; it is just that I can’t do without it. I drive with it.
How long does it take you to dress up for an outing?
I thank God my husband is not here. If he was, he would tell you that “when it is time to go out, she is in her surgery room”. So I always tell him to inform me on time if we have to go together. It’s the order of the day where women are concerned.
What’s your best colour?
My friends tell me my best colour is black, but I may not know. I know I wear a lot of black.
Are you a designer freak?
No, I live a simple life. I know I have a lot of designer wears, but I am not a designer freak. Sometimes, I wear what my daughter makes for me, like bangles. I believe that what matters is looking good and not the name of the label.
What does it take to look good if the label name is not important?
Contrary to many people’s opinion, it doesn’t cost much to look good. Just get a nice well-cut dress and be contented with what you have. Your hair is also important, if you are a woman.
