According to Adeyanju, the funds raised during the course of the charity ride will be dedicated to primary healthcare, polio plus project, water and sanitation.
The ride will traverse London – France – Spain – Gibraltar – Morocco – Western Sahara – Mauritania – St Louis – Senegal – Gambia – Mali – Cote d’Ivoire – Ghana – Togo – Benin – Lagos.
Yesterday, Adeyanju arrived at Gibraltar, a British overseas territory located in the Iberian Peninsula. He shared his thought about the city whose name is invoked to make a commitment.
He said: “When people use the phrase “I am behind you like the Rock of Gibraltar” if they mean it, then it’s really a sure assurance.
“The rock is truly massive, a huge intimidating work of nature. You will see it clearly anywhere you are in Gibraltar, and it is quite amazing the way nature created it, the frontal part facing the sea is like a flat wall, just like the YOSEMITE in the USA.
“I rode through the length and breadth of Gibraltar and saw how and where the locals live and their way of life. If you like the sea, the waves, the wind, and the calming and refreshing effect of just staring at the sea, then you will like the place.
“Their way of life seems simple and easy. A funny thing, when rode into the city of Gibraltar and was sort of going somewhat fast like normal Lagos speed, everyone seems to be staring at me and I guess they will be wondering where I am from either Germany, or Cairo or Lagos. I got the message and quickly adjusted, and honestly, I enjoyed the calm easy pace I rode around the city.”
