The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has extended the deadline for filing individual annual tax returns from 1 April to 14 April 2026.
The announcement was made on Monday in a statement signed by the agency’s Head of Corporate Communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude.
Quoting the Executive Chairman of the LIRS, Dr Ayodele Subair, she noted that the extension is intended to provide taxpayers with additional time to ensure their submissions are accurate.
“The Executive Chairman of the LIRS, Dr Ayodele Subair, explained that while the statutory deadline for filing individual annual tax returns is 31 March every year, this extension is designed to provide individuals with the necessary window to complete their returns correctly,” the statement read.

Dr Subair emphasised that individuals must prioritise the timely filing of their annual income tax returns, suggesting that compliance should be “embedded as a routine personal practice.”
The Chairman also reiterated that electronic filing via the LIRS eTax platform remains the only approved method for submission, as manual filings have been completely phased out. Taxpayers are required to file exclusively through the portal: https://etax.lirs.net.
“Describing the platform as secure, user-friendly, and accessible 24/7, Dr Subair advised individuals to ensure that their TaxID (Tax Identification Number) is correctly captured in their submissions,” the statement added.
Taxpayers requiring assistance may visit any LIRS office or contact the service via the website at lirs.gov.ng, by email at etaxinfo@lirs.net, or through the customer care hotline: 0700-CALL-LIRS.
