I can’t wait to don Super Eagles’ shirt, says Ademola Lookman
Ademola Lookman was not able to play for the Super Eagles at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) because the world football governing body, FIFA was yet to clear him to play for Nigeria.
After his application was approved in February, he took to his social media page to express his happiness over the decision of the world football governing body.
He wrote, “Delighted to announce Fifa has approved my nationality switch.
“Thank you for the warm welcome and I can’t wait to put on the Super Eagles shirt and represent the country.”
Nigeria announced their squad for this month’s World Cup qualifier against Ghana on Friday and Ademola Lookman was on the 32 man list.
The striker will be hoping to start his international career with the first leg of the two-legged tie that will take place on March 25 in Ghana.
He will also try to be fit for the return leg of the crunch encounter at the main bowl of MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja on March 29.
Reacting to the call-up, the striker tweeted:
“And so it begins… my first call-up and can’t wait to represent my country. See you soon Naija @NGSuperEagles.”
