LAUTECH bars students from driving on campus

LAUTECH also banned the use of tinted vehicles by staff and wants beginner drivers to place learner permits on their vehicles

The management of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso in Oyo State, has introduced new guidelines on driving within the state-owned tertiary institution. 

LAUTECH, after careful deliberation by its senate, decided to ban students of the school from driving or bringing cars to the campus.

This development was made known via a memo signed and made available to press men on Wednesday, April 19, by the Registrar of the institution, Kayode Ogunleye. 

TheNiche also learnt after citing the copy of the memo, that the decision reached by the school authority 

also contained driving regulations that would guide the conduct of other members of the University community.

Staff of the institution were also barred from using tinted vehicles, while beginner drivers are now required to place learner permits on their vehicles according to the document. 

The statement further barred the driving of unregistered vehicles within the vicinity of the school.

The statement reads: “The university management, at its regular meeting held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, deliberated on the occurrence of traffic on the campus and decided as follows:

“Vehicles owned by students are hereby banned from entering the university campus. Vehicles with no registration numbers are no longer allowed on campus. Roadside parking of vehicles should stop forthwith.”

“Unauthorised vehicles parked at various positions in the university should be taken out with immediate effect, failing which the university’s security will take appropriate action on such vehicles.

“Tinted vehicles being used by some members of staff and students are hereby prohibited. Learner’s permit must be placed on the vehicles of beginner drivers,”
