Lateef recently played the lead role in a blockbuster movie produced by the veteran producer.

According to the actor, he had always prayed to appear in a cameo role in any of Tunde Kelani’s movies but got himself a lead role in his latest film, ‘Ayinla.’

The 36-year-old actor went on to praise the movie director for his thoroughness and thoughtfulness, saying he understands how to manage movie stars.

In a recent interview, he said, “It was the least of what I was expecting at this stage of my career. I had always prayed to work with Tunde Kelani; even if it was to play a cameo role in any of his movies.”

He also said there was mutual respect between him and Tunde Kilani on the movie set, saying he listened to his instructions whenever he wanted a scene repeated, and he appreciates it.

Adedimeji continued, “There was a day I was too tired and weak and I told him at 4pm that I did not want to work anymore that day. He then told me to go and relax, and continue the next day. He is one director that understands actors.

“He knows that if one is tired, one wouldn’t be able to give one’s best. While acting, if he was not satisfied with my performance, he would tell me to improve. And immediately, I gave him what he wanted, he would commend me. God bless him for us.”

The movie ‘Ayinla’ depicted the life and times of famous Apala musician, Ayinla Omowura, his rise to fame, his music, relationships, and his death.

The film recently won an award as the ‘Best African Narrative Feature’ at the 2022 Pan African Film Festival held in California in the United States.

Kelani announced the win in an Instagram post and congratulated all those who played a part in the success of the movie.

He wrote, “Ayinla wins Programmer’s Best African Narrative Award PAFF Los Angeles 2022. Congratulations to our talented crew, executive producers, producers, and our rep team in Los Angeles and Pakistan.

“Thanks and God’s blessings. Tk Ayinla coming soon on NETFLIX.”
