Lampard hits out at Chelsea stars after UCL elimination

Lampard after Chelsea’s UCL elimination by Real Madrid, will now turn his attention to the remaining 7 league fixtures

Chelsea interim manager, Frank Lampard has slammed his players following their quarter finals UEFA Champions League (UCL) exit on Tuesday night.   

The former England midfielder after the west London club were dumped out of the European elite competition called on the Blues players to “respect the club”.

Chelsea lost 2-0 to Real Madrid for the second time within a week in the reverse fixture of UCL quarter final match played at Stamford Bridge and got eliminated thanks to a 4-0 aggregate scoreline.  

Rodrygo scored two second half goals in the 58th and 80th minutes for the holders, which saw off Lampard’s men.

Lampard after Chelsea’s exit from UC, has now turned his attention to the rest of the season with seven league fixtures left to play. 

The former Everton boss said he wants the squad to be motivated, as they seek to finish the campaign on a high.

“They have to be motivated, you’re playing for Chelsea. Players have to respect the club, and they do.

“I want to see that in their performances until the end of the season,” Lampard said.

Chelsea’s next game is against Manchester United at Old Trafford, but the game has been postponed due to the Red Devils’ FA Cup semi finals fixture against Brighton.
