It was a difficult time for most port users on Wednesday morning as many took to trekking while few rode bicycles across Apapa and Tin-Can ports due to the commencement of the Lagos State ban on commercial motorcycles in six Local Governments and nine LCDA’s in the State.
Workers from all walks of life were not at ease trekking to their various offices today from Mile 2 to Tin Can and Apapa ports.
Workers who also trekked to their offices from liverpool to NIMASA, Eleganza and Shippers Council revealed their sad experiences, saying that government should hurriedly provide means of transportation for workers in Apapa to ease the hard work and reduce hours workers spend on the road trekking.

They argued that banning Okada riders without the provision of alternatives would put workers effort in jeopardy and frustrate productivity.

In Papa area this morning, there was no single Okada rider at the Barracks where they used to stay which forced commuters to trek long distances.
However, it was a total obidience to the Lagos State ban as law enforcement officers were not anywhere in Papa to enforce the law.
Commuters were of the view that government must find a stop gap to finding solution to the scarcity inner city transportation in Apapa as the present situation would derail productivity.
