Lagos Islanders commence DStv Basketball League at Landmark

Lagos Islanders are set to launch their new home ground this Friday May, 29 against Oluyole Warriors with a game that promises to be not only entertaining but showcase improved quality of play.

 

Slated for 7:00pm, the basketball league game will give basketball lovers across the country and DStv subscribers a thrilling match as big players like Benjamin Uzoh, Jason Ebie, Tunji Awojobi, Emmanuel Dayo, Mojubaoluwa Oyeleye will feature in the game.

The Chairman of Lagos Islanders, Damoye Oyesiku, said that the game will feature Dare Art Alade, M.I, Ice Prince, Kunle Afolayan among others as special guests. He explained that they are putting plans in place to ensure that fans were given the best treatment during the games. “This is not the only game we will be playing at the venue, we will play against Kwara Falcons of Ilorin, (June7), we will also play against Union Bank (June 16) and against Delta Force (June 28)” he commented.

 

Speaking on the development Martin Mabutho, General Manager, Marketing, MultiChoice Nigeria said, “We congratulate Lagos Islanders on their new home-ground. It’s a well-positioned venue that will certainly make sport more accessible. We hope basketball lovers from around this axis will take advantage of the proximity and fill the venue on match days”.

Further Mabutho noted, “As the sponsors of the league, this is a welcome development as it shows that the teams are making effort to develop the sport further. We hope that we will see other corporates join in developing sports in Nigeria. DStv also sponsors table tennis, football and boxing in Nigeria”

 

Commending MultiChoice for all its support in the leagues, the president of the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF), Mr. Umar Tijani also urged lovers of the game to come out enmass to watch the thrills of the game at Landmark. “With DStv support our players are now in better shape, coaches are employed and our fans are also entertained” he remarked
