The Executive Chairman of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Muibi Alade Folawiyo, on Wednesday claimed he was only invited by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and not arrested as being peddled in some sections of the media.
He made the clarification in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Olushoga Olushola, while addressing allegation that he misappropriated public funds.
According to Folawiyo, the anti-corruption agency merely summoned him to respond to a petition allegedly submitted by people he described as detractors attempting to tarnish his image ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in Lagos State.
The statement noted that the LCDA boss honoured the invitation in good faith and fully cooperated with ICPC.

He added that he was not arrested at any point during the process and has since resumed his official duties.
“As a responsible and law-abiding citizen, Hon. Folawiyo honoured the ICPC’s invitation and engaged with the Commission professionally, confident that the facts would speak for themselves,” the statement read.
Folawiyo urged the public, particularly residents and stakeholders within Lagos Island East LCDA, to disregard what he described as misleading and sensational reports aimed at causing unnecessary alarm.
The Chairman expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his constituents for their continued support, prayers, and solidarity, reaffirming his commitment to transparency, accountability, and public service.
