The Prisons and Hospital Ministry of a Lagos church is seeking assistance from the public to locate the family of a man identified only as Femi.

The man, who was discovered in critical condition by the roadside on August 10, 2024, is believed to be from Iwo in Osun State.

Recounting how he was found, Funmi Azike, the secretary of the ministry said she initially mistook him for a corpse, but later stopped to assess the situation
after noticing someone was checking his pulse.

“I parked and tried to call emergency services, but there was no response.

“I then contacted the hospital coordinator from the Prisons and Hospital Ministry for advice and was instructed to go to the nearest police station.

“After a long ordeal with the police, someone finally contacted the state ambulance service.” Azike said.

She went on to say after waiting for hours without an ambulance, she decided to return to the police station where she and one Mr. John Igwe, who was earlier checking Femi’s pulse where given permission to take him to the Air Force Hospital.

She added that Femi was eventually stabilized by the Air Force commander on duty and his team before being  referred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for intensive care.

“He was later transferred to LASUTH, where he remained in a coma. Thankfully, Femi has regained consciousness and is currently being treated in the Neuro/Cardio Ward at LASUTH,” she explained.

Azike further said her ministry needs help to locate Femi’s family since he is no longer in critical condition, and the hospital is ready to discharge him.

She said, “The only information we have is that his name is Femi, and he is from Iwo.”

She appealed to members of the public with any relevant information to come forward and assist in reuniting him with his family..
