Kwankwaso cautions Atiku not to underrate G5 as Rivers critical to winning

Rabiu Kwankwaso has warned those underrating or undermining Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike and his Integrity Group because Rivers is one of the key states to win to land in the Villa.

It was a coded message for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) whose five Governors (G5) who form the Integrity Group have been alienated by Atiku in the fracas over National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu.

Kwankwaso spoke when he inaugurated the Mgbuitanwo internal road in Emohua Council in Rivers, constructed by the Wike administration.

Wike pledged logistics support for the presidential candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

He expressed concern that the diversity of Nigeria is being  threatened by those campaigning for office on ethnic and regional sentiments which will make Nigerians more divided.

“It is not to say don’t vote for a Yoruba man, don’t vote for an Igbo man. That is not what we require in this country now; what we require is a man that will put Nigeria together.

“We, of the Integrity Group, will continue to support whatever that is right, whatever will help this country,” Wike said in a statement he issued through his Media Assistant Kelvin Ebiri.

Infrastructure in Rivers

Wike disclosed he tried in vain to persuade leaders of the PDP not to allow Kwankwaso to leave the party because of the strategic importance of Kano where he was once Governor.

Kwankwaso commended Wike for engaging Julius Berger to deliver the best quality road in a rural community, per The Guardian.

He described Wike as a leader who loves his people and is doing his best to improve their lot across the state, including provision of quality educational infrastructure.

Kwankwaso warned those undermining the capability of the G5, particularly Wike, are doing so at their politically peril because Rivers, like Kano and Lagos, is critical to winning the Presidency.

He said members of the Integrity Group are good people who will continue to do the right thing and will be judged by posterity based on what they do.

Rivers Works Commissioner Dakorinima George-Kelly disclosed the Mgbuitanwo internal road is 39,300 square metres, has 200 milimetres thickness, with 50 milimetres binder course, and fitted with streetlights and drains.

Julius Berger South South Regional Manager Jergen Fitcher said the company continues to deliver standard infrastructure in support of Wike’s development policy.
