Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp has argued that London club, Chelsea, have a ‘massive advantage’ over his Liverpool side this season despite their poor start to the season.

Liverpool, alongside another London club,  Arsenal, are expected to challenge the Premier League (PL) champions, Manchester City for the league title this season.

The Reds have made a flying start to the 2023/2024 campaign, winning five of their six Premier League fixtures, with their only draw coming in the 1-1 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the opening day of the season.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have endured a tough spell since that meeting, as they have won just one of their opening six Premier League games.

However, despite the Blue’s poor form and performances this season, Klopp feels the West London club, along with Tottenham, have a major advantage over others in the race for the top four this season.

According to him, Chelsea’s lack of European football will work in their favour because their players will be able to rest well and perform optimally.

Speaking on Friday ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League tie with Tottenham on Saturday, Klopp said: “Chelsea and Tottenham have no European football.

“Two heavyweights not in European football, they have the whole week to train when others travel. It is a massive advantage.

“Getting into the Champions League this year will be a massive, difficult task because they will be well rested.”
