The kinsman of the Speaker House of Representatives, Dogara Yakubu, as well as ex-officio of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Bauchi chapter, Mr. Bayero Yakubu, has appealed to the people of Bogoro, Dass Tafawa Balewa constituency not to vote for Dogara in the forthcoming general election.
He said tha tDogara has served the constituency for 12 years and should allow another person to serve the constituency.
He made the appeal at fund raising dinner organised for Azi Atan, the SDP’s candidate for the Bogoro, Dass Tafawa Balewa constituency in the state at the weekend.
Yakubu explained that the speaker has risen to certain level and has done much for the constituency in terms of dividends of democracy in the constituency.
“We want to appreciate what Yakubu Dogara has done to us the constituency. He has provided much to us.
“Therefore, there is need for him to go for a higher office and allow somebody to replace him at the national assembly.
“Having served 12 years at the House, four out of which he spent as Speaker, he is now a fulfilled lawmaker with career,” he said.
According to him, “That is why we are supporting Honorable Azi to replace him at the House of Representatives to represent Bogoro, Dass, Tafawa-Balewa constituency.”
The Chairperson, Christian Women in Politics, Bauchi, Mrs Sera Yohanna, declared support for Atan.
She said, “We tested him during the last regime, where he served as an adviser to the former governor Isa Yuguda.”
According to her, he was humble and accorded women all the necessary support.
She said that the Christian women would support the candidature of Azi to represent people of Bogoro, Dass, Tafawa Balewa Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.
