Kings College teachers begin strike over non-payment of salaries

-

Teachers in the Federal Government-owned Kings  College, Lagos on Friday, September 16, 2016, began an indefinite strike over non-payment of their five-month salaries and other allowances by the Federal Government.

Besides, the students, who are supposed to resume this weekend, had been warned by school authorities not to return until the strike was over.

Also, Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the school has declared support for the teachers.

For instance, King Collage Parents Teachers Association has notified the parents of the latest development through text massages; one of such reads:

“My dear KC parents, our teachers have embarked on industrial action over non-payment of their salaries. Resumption has been put on hold. The PTA stand by our teachers and have made several appeals to the Federal Ministry of Education and thought the issue would have been resolved by now. New resumption date would be announced later.”

Some parents spoken to lamented their plight since the present administration took over at the federal level.

They said that the school fees  had been increased from N23 to N45, while students are now to return to hostels with their own foams.
