Ace Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw has blasted the President Bola Tinubu-led administration for reinstating the old national anthem instead of tackling the economic hardship in the country.
The Thespian made her feelings known in a now-viral post she shared on her X handle, where she faulted the timing of the change, querying how the return to the old anthem will alleviate the suffering of the masses.
She went on to lament that the country is facing “excoriating hardship and lack of good governance on every level.”
Taking to her verified social media page, Kate Henshaw sarcastically wrote: “In the midst of excoriating hardship & lack of good governance on every level but not to worry, going back to a colonial anthem will be a soothing balm and inject patriotism back into our veins, a much needed drug.”
Also speaking via another post, the actress said the move showed that the labour of those who started the country is now in vain.
“The labour of our heroes past… o ti lo [is gone].” the movie star added.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the President Tinubu on Wednesday, May 29, signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law, thereby reinstating the old anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”
