Soon after the Kano governorship election tribunal sacked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, traders across major markets in Kano shut their shops and rushed home in anticipation of violent protests that may erupt

In its judgement on Wednesday September 20, the tribunal declared Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected governor of the Kano State.

Some of the places where traders suspended activities due to fear of the unknown were Sabon Gari, Kantin Kwari, and Singer markets.
