Remi Tinubu has been reminded to tell her husband that Nigerian are suffering because of the badly implemented policies of Bola Tinubu coupled with other policies the President has failed to effect.

“We have several means of communicating to the government on our needs and requests [but] you are the surest way to tell the President the happenings in the country,” the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, told her on Monday.

He handed down the message when Remi visited his palace on her way to the commissioning of a building named after her at the Faculty of Law, Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) in Kano.

Bayero noted some efforts Tinubu has made but urged him to double down to ease economic hardship and tackle insecurity.

Said he: “Although we have several means of communicating to the government on our needs and requests, you are the surest way to tell the President the happenings in the country.

“We get information daily that essential commodities and cost of living are high and people are suffering, although it didn’t start with this government. We know the government is making efforts but it should redouble efforts to ease the suffering faced by the people.”

Insecurity another serious problem

“Insecurity is another serious problem we are facing. I know your government inherited it but something more seriously should be done to take care of the threats,” Bayero added.

“We are receiving a series of messages from our people on talks about relocation of CBN [Central Bank of Nigeria and FAAN [Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria] to Lagos, I think the government should revisit it.

“Do more enlightenment on this matter. I cannot tell the intentions of the government, we should be able to understand the relocation of the CBN and FAAN offices now to Lagos.”

Remi implored Nigerians to bear with the Tinubu administration over the current economic challenges, expressing optimism that things would be better as the President means well for the country.

She expressed appreciation for the rousing welcome given to her by the Kano State Government, as well as delight for the cheers she received from the school children who assembled by the roadside waving at her en route to the palace.
