Ace Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has chastised human rights activist and social media influencer, Reno Omokri for dragging Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) into actor, Mr Ibu’s ill heath.

TheNiche had earlier reported that comic actor, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu took to social media earlier in the week to seek financial aid from Nigerians as he battles an undisclosed ailment.

Reacting to the viral video on his X handle, Reno Omokri, who was a former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, told Peter Obi to pay the medical bills for the ailing actor.

According to him, since Mr Ibu endorsed the LP candidate and campaigned for him during the 2023 general elections, he ought to help the thespian in his time of need.

Reacting to Omokri’s post, Kanayo in a clip shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, condemned the former presidential aide, describing him as wicked.

The veteran actor, who also chastised Nollywood colleague, Uche Maduagwu, for calling out fellow actors on the matter, went on to state that giving is personal and should not be used to blackmail others.

“As actors, our heart goes out to our dear colleague, Mr Ibu. His family has done their best since it was reported last year. And now they have come out to say we have done our best, we need public support.

Taking to social media, he said: “Now, I condemn in strict terms Reno Omokri, who is coming to call Peter Obi’s name and so on. It is not a friendly thing. It’s wicked. And to Uche Maduagwu, who talked about shame on top actors. Shame on you too because you don’t have any value and level to call out our names.

“It’s an individual thing to support a colleague. It becomes a collective thing as Actors Guild of Nigeria. Don’t forget some people learn to give personally, privately. Even those who have given can also be appreciated on a scale of what they have given to John Okafor.

“We appreciate your efforts in giving but nobody should use it as a platform to castigate or indict those who have not given. It’s wrong and we don’t support it.

“So, this is a warning. If you want to give, give.”
