A judge of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ruled that the Department of State Services (DSS) medical facility is suitable for the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

This was disclosed on Thursday in a post shared on X by one of Kanu’s lawyers, Aloy Ejimakor.

The defense counsel, while briefing Nigerians on the case, said the judge held that the DSS medical facility is adequate for Kanu’s medical care.

He added that the court adjourned the trial to October 23, 2025, for the commencement of Kanu’s defense.

The lawyer further noted that the court told the IPOB leader that he has until October 30 to close his defense.

Speaking via his verified social media handle, Ejimakor wrote, “MAZI NNAMDI KANU’s case has just been adjourned to 23rd October 2025 for “commencement of his defence”.

“The Judge further held that the DSS medical facility is adequate for his medical care and that MNK has until 30th October to close his defense.”

Kanu is currently standing trial for an alleged terrorism charge brought against him by the federal government.

While his lawyers argued that he needs urgent medical care that the DSS facility cannot handle, prosecution counsels contradicted the claim.
