Judge grants popular influencer, Scott Iguma bail after his arrest for defamation

Scott Iguma was arrested by PWAN founder, Augustine Onwumere on Thursday and later charged to court on Friday

Popular media personality and influencer, Scott Iguma was on Monday granted bail by a Lagos State High Court, after he was initially remanded in prison for alleged defamation.  

This was revealed in a video shared by singer, Kokopee on the internet personality’s social media page.

Scott had last week Monday, called out a popular real estate company, PWAN for defrauding customers.

While submitting over 130 petitions from victims to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), he accused PWAN of selling receipts to the people instead of land.

On Thursday, he was arrested for defamation by PWAN founder, Augustine Onwumere and later charged to court on Friday.

The development sparked controversy across social media platforms, with many of his colleagues and associates including Tunde Ednut, VeryDarkMan, Stanley Ontop, and singer Kokopee slamming the Nigeria Police and PWAN.

However, while briefing Scott’s fans and other netizens on the case, Kokopee announced that the activist has been granted bail by the judge.

He also challenged PWAN to prove its innocence by controverting the allegations against it. 

He said “After the hearing, the judge has granted Scott Iguma bail. His legal team are currently working round the clock to make sure all bail conditions are met. One thing I must tell Nigerians is that we can not be silent when it looks like oppression is around the corner. Injustice for one is injustice to all.

“PWAN be warned, if you say you are innocent , come forward with proof”.
