John Barnes urges Nkunku not to join Chelsea

Nkunku has been on fire since joining Leipzig, he has scored 64 goals and produced 51 assists in 159 appearances since signing for the club

Liverpool legend, John Barnes has told French forward, Christopher Nkunku he would be making a big mistake if he leaves Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig for West London club, Chelsea.

It was widely reported three days ago that the Premier League club had concluded plans to bring the talented French forward from the German side to Stamford Bridge.

The 25-year-old was picked by France boss, Didier Deschamps, to represent Le Blues at the just concluded 2022 World Cup in Qatar but a last-minute injury stopped him. 

Nkunku has been on fire since joining RB Leipzig, as he has scored 64 goals and produced 51 assists in 159 appearances since signing for the club.

Other PL clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United and his former club PSG were interested in the Frenchman but Graham Potter’s Blues seems to have secured his services.

However, Barnes while talking to bettingexpert on the deal, believes

Chelsea is not the right destination for the Le Blues striker, Nkunku. 

According to the former Liverpool star, the forward may not reach his full potential at Stamford Bridge because the team is currently “not structured” and “unstable” in terms of the rate at which they change their managers 

“It’s tough for younger players to come into a club like Chelsea as they are quite unstable in terms of changing their managers. 

“He has great potential but Chelsea hasn’t been that great the last six months and I would hate to see a young talented player go to a club that is not structured at the moment.

“I don’t think they have [patience] with young players,” Barnes said.
