Joe Aribo, Ndidi, others praised for booking round of 16 ticket

Scottish club, Rangers have praised their midfielder, Joe Aribo and his teammates for booking a ticket in the knockout stages of AFCON

Nigeria and some of their players have been eulogised by some European clubs, for qualifying for the Knockout stages of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Super Eagles qualified for the round of 16 of AFCON after defeating the Pharaohs of Egypt and the Falcons of Sudan, with a game against Guinea Bissau to play and topping Group D in the process.

Some European teams namely Watford, Rangers, Leicester City, and Sparta Rotterdam shared the joy and commended the Super Eagles and their players, who are representing Nigeria.  

The list of the players who were congratulated includes Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City) Joe Aribo (Rangers), Willian Troost-Ekong (Watford), and  Maduka Okoye (Watford and Sparta Rotterdam.

Reacting to Super Eagles’ qualification, Scottish club, Rangers took to their Twitter to congratulate Joe Aribo and Nigeria as they wrote:

“A 3-1 victory for @J_Aribo19 and TeamNigeria today to book their spot in the last 16′

In the same vein, Premier League club, Watford tweeted,  “Into the AFCON2021 knockouts! Congrats to William Troost-Ekong and @OkoyeMaduka on their 3-1 win over Sudan with TeamNigeria.”

Another Premier League side, Leicester City wrote: “lcfc’s @Ndidi25 and @67Kelechi starred for Nigeria in a 3-1 win over Sudan as the Super Eagles soar into the last-16 at AFCON2021.”

Sparta Rotterdam were not left behind as they saluted Maduka Okoye and Super Eagles as they tweeted: “Another win, games, points TeamNigeria @OkoyeMaduka.”
