Jo O’Meara has kicked off the Halloween celebrations by releasing a new version of Michael Jackson’s Thriller to mark the 40th anniversary of the song’s release.

Joanne Valda O’Meara (born 29 April 1979) is an English pop singer. She is best known for being a member of pop group S Club 7 between 1999 and 2003.

She was born and raised in Romford. She launched her career at the age of 16 working with Max Martin. O’Meara later went on to launch a solo career and was a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother in 2007.

The S Club star, 43, has recreated the iconic music video alongside a few familiar faces to raise money for the children’s charity GOSH.

Decked out as zombies, The Chase’s Anne Hegerty, Hollyoaks’ Bethannie Hare and Outnumbered star Tyger Drew-Honey got into the swing of things as they replicated the moves made famous in the 1980s film clip.

Jo looked frighteningly good in the clip as she donned a blue dress with black lace sleeves while getting into the Halloween spirit with fake cuts on her face.

The Chase’s Anne was almost unrecognisable as she wore a black wig and sported a gruesome makeup look while taking on her new zombie role.

Speaking about the track, Jo said: ‘I have always been a huge fan of MJ! ‘Thriller’ is an all-time classic and this year it turns 40. It seems the perfect song for Halloween 2022!’

Anne added: ‘What a fun day. Great to see everyone & Tyger Drew-Honey proposed to me on set. What a fantastic song for Halloween & for such a great cause, I loved taking on Vincent Price’s iconic role’

Ivan Kaye, Kathy Hill, Faye Barker and Verona Rose also make an appearance as monsters while filming the spooky music video.

The song is released in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital charity GOSH.

Each year, GOSH faces an incredible task – to raise millions to support Great Ormond Street Hospital to remain at the forefront of paediatric medicine.

Every day, about 600 children and young people from across the UK arrive for life-changing treatments. And every day, young lives hang in the balance as patients, families and staff battle the most complex illnesses.

The money raised by GOSH helps support their patients and their families through their immensely challenging experiences, and funds research to find the life-saving cures of tomorrow.
