Jihadists abduct more than 100 students at Bethel Baptist High school Kaduna

Jihadists, whose dual motive of frustrating education and extorting hapless citizens, have again struck at the Bethel Baptist High School in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state, seizing about 100 students. Seventeen managed to escape.

Kaduna is fast becoming the epicentre of mass kidnappings in Nigeria.  This year, the terrorists have abducted staff and students at various educational institutions in the state including; Federal College of Forestry, Greenfield University, Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic and now Bethel Baptist High School all in the state.

According to  NAN, the jihadists attacked the school at about 2:00 am.

It quoted the Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Kaduna, ASP Mohammed Jalije, saying 17 of the students had been rescued.

Kaduna chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. John Joseph Hayab, said there were 180 boarding students in the school, out of which 26 students returned after escaping from the bandits. He is hopeful that more would return.
