The political aspiration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Lagos State, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, better known as Jandor, has suffered a major setback after his Campaign Director-General, Seye Dairo resigned hours before Saturday’s governorship election.

According to Daily Post, Dairo announced his resignation in a letter to the PDP candidate but did not give any reason for taking the action.

The former campaign DG in the letter, thanked Jandor for allowing him to serve in the capacity and head of his campaign team.

The PDP has been hit by several resignations of its key chieftains and members who either joined the ruling APC or defected to Labour Party.

Prior to this development, Jandor had earlier denied rumours that he was stepping down for the candidate of another political party.

Addressing newsmen at his campaign office in Ikeja on Thursday, the PDP flag bearer said he was in the race to win and bring in a breath of fresh air.

He said: “We are here stating that all the rumours that are out there purportedly being sold by some people in some quarters are nothing but false.

“Lagos PDP is not in alliance with any political party. As the candidate of the party, I have not stepped down for anybody, we are not stepping down for anybody, and we are not going to step down for anybody.

“There has not been any formal meeting between Lagos PDP and any political party as such to say that we are on a round-table discussing alliance,”

There are, however, indications that Dairo may have stepped down to work for the Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour on Saturday.
