JAMB explained that the extension was to allow holders of Cambridge A/Level certificates, who have not registered to do so within the time frame

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced the extension of the closing date for the registration of 2023 Direct Entry.
JAMB said that the closing date, initially scheduled for April 20, has been extended by one week starting from Friday, April 21 to April 28, 2023.
The board disclosed this in a statement by its spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, shortly after its management meeting.
According to Benjamin:” The DE registration exercise, which commenced on Monday, March 20, 2023, and [was] billed to end on Thursday, April 20, 2023, has been extended by one week starting from Friday, April 21, 2023.”
JAMB explained that the extension was to allow holders of Cambridge A/Level certificates, who have not registered to do so within the time frame.
He stated further: “It should be noted that in its bid to ensure that the Cambridge A/L Certificate is onboarded in the verification process, the British Council is partnering with the Board and, as such, would be providing a verification portal for the seamless verification of its Cambridge Certificates as obtains with other categories of A/Level certificates. It is this provision of a verification portal by the Council that informs the Board’s decision to reconsider its earlier stand on non-inclusion of Cambridge certificate for DE registration.”
The board subsequently directed those with Cambridge Certificates to register for the 2023 DE at any JAMB office nearest to them.
The JAMB spokesperson added: “This consideration does not in any way include candidates awaiting Cambridge Certificates as “Awaiting Results” would not be accepted.”
JAMB had modified the DE registration after discovering a series of falsifications of A/Level results.

Meanwhile, the Registrar/Chief Executive, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, said about 84,000 candidates on Tuesday sat for the rescheduled Mock-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Mock-UTME), which took place nationwide.
Oloyede disclosed this on Tuesday while fielding questions from journalists after monitoring the exam in Abuja.
While commending candidates for understanding the board’s decision to reschedule the examination for Tuesday (today), Oloyede said the earlier glitches observed in the Mock-UTME in some centres prompted it to be rescheduled.
The JAMB boss added that the Mock-UTME was held in 387 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the country, with 16 of the centres having two sessions, saying that the exam results would be out later, today, Tuesday.
“We should also thank the students for bearing with us while trial-testing. We gave notice that we were moving to a new level, and I think by God’s grace, we are now arriving at the next level. Those things we wanted to test, we saw what they were, and we went back and made sure everything worked, and it is working.
“They will get their results today; of course, the results will be out today, and how many of them? 84,000,” Oloyede said.
