However, Iwuanyanwu said in a press statement on Wednesday released by his media adviser, Ben Osuagwu, that there was no attack on him or any of his staff.

“Our Leader however prays to God Almighty that peace and normalcy should return in our land,” the statement reads.

Iwuanyanwu, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), announced his resignation from partisan politics in September 2021.

The three-time presidential aspirant made the announcement in a statement he signed ahead of his 79th birthday.

In May, Iwuanyanwu lamented the increasing rate of killing, kidnapping, and unrest in the country while addressing the National Leadership of Inter-Faith Youth Council of Nigeria (IFYCN) on the occasion of the presentation of the 2022 Inter-Faith Youth Council of Nigeria Outstanding Peace Award as an Icon of National and Societal Development to him in his Owerri office.
