Fulham star, Alex Iwobi, has said Nigeria’s Super Eagles have the best players in Africa and should be able to earn a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The versatile midfielder made this comment recently during an interview with CNN.
Nigeria managed to keep hope of qualifying for the World Cup alive by securing a place in the playoffs despite a poor start during the qualifiers.
The Super Eagles will face the Panthers of Gabon in the semi-final of the playoffs on Thursday, November 13 in Rabat, Morocco.
They will then play the winner of the other semi-final between Cameroon and Congo DR in the final before proceeding to the intercontinental stage of the playoffs.

Speaking on the team’s chances to book a place in the World Cup, Iwobi said they will do their best to secure a place at the tournament.
He added that it would be shameful for a country that produced the African Player of the Year in two successive years to miss out on the World Cup.
“We’ve managed to rescue ourselves from the dead,” he said.
Iwobi added, “We know we have the players and the abilities to compete against any other country in the world.
“We have last year’s African Player of the Year (Ademola Lookman), the year before that (Victor Osimhen). It’ll be a shame if we don’t make it, but we have a lot of confidence. We just have to prove it to ourselves.”
