Bishop Priscilla Otuya has said that the time has come for the citizens to arise and build Nigeria.
At the flag-off of the RX4 campaign on May 27 at Rockview Hotel, Festac Town, Lagos, Dr. Otuya said: “As we all know, the general elections have come and gone, and everyone lived in fear of the unknown. With the pockets of unrest in various quarters and rumours of impending war, everyone prayed to God for intervention; it didn’t matter whether we were Christians or Muslims… It is time to arise and rebuild”.
The Gospel minister added that ours is a country that has suffered and survived, a country that has the ability to totally and completely recapture her lost glory and that is what the Nigerian Friends Service Committee (NIFSEC) of the Nigerian Pastors Initiative is out to propagate.
“We invite you to be a part of this call to arise and rebuild Nigeria by participating in the RX4 Campaign,” she stated.
RX4, which stands for Reconciliation, Restoration, Redemption and Rebirth, Dr. Otuya said, is sure to grow and make impact with the support of all Nigerians.
Essentially, the committee, through RX4, will, among other things, identify existing barriers to the participation of faith-based and community organisations in the delivery of social services in Nigeria. It is also to propose the development of programmes to increase participation in governmental initiatives at federal, state and local levels; coordinate comprehensive efforts to incorporate such organisations in programmes aimed at promoting good governance and patriotism; promote peace and peaceful coexistence between Christians and people of other faith; as well as honour the work of Nigerians who have contributed in no small way to the empowerment of the people.
“Our youth have a huge place in our plans and programmes and soon we will be announcing a powerful initiative aimed at empowering youths for greater exploits. Then on July 14, we would be hosting the first edition of the annual BISE colloquium aimed at mobilising our leaders in the faith community and sensitising them on the need to create enabling environment for the youth to invest their time, talents and treasure for the coming generation,” she said.
Among those she named as part of the RX4 initiative are: Chairman of NIFSEC, Dr. Isaac Abiodun; Lagos State executives of the Nigerian Pastors Initiative – Dr. Omiko Ohenhen, Dr. Sam Agbo, Prophet Mike Aroundade, Dr. Amos Akinwale and a host of others too numerous to mention.
