Briefing journalists yesterday in Uyo, Enang said his demand for the governor to publish Akpabio’s handover notes was altruistic, adding that it would enable Akwa Ibom people appraise the assets and liabilities of the state for decision making purpose.

“The entire handing over notes by former Governor Akpabio should be made public because he did not hand over his private estate. He handed over the governance of Akwa Ibom state which you and I and even the unborn child are involved.

“He handed over funds, debts and even security. He should disclose all these so that we can appraise it and use it in taking decisions. He should also disclose things that are assets that were handed over to him by the former governor.
Speaking further the APC Chieftain said, “He should tell us the ownership status of Akwa Ibom Savings and Loans Limited, the oil blocs, the aircraft; what about the vehicles that were handed over to him. How many bullet proof cars were handed over to him and who are those using the cars now? We need to know how many vehicles each of the public officials that served under Akpabio are entitled to go back home with”.

On the high debt profile allegedly bequeathed by the Akpabio administration, Sen. Enang urged the new governor to respect the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) and declare accordingly the amount left in the state treasury as well as the debts. “The treasury under the Foi should be a matter of public knowledge.

There is no more state secret in matters of state treasury because monies coming into the state are usually published by the Accountant-General in newspapers and other online platforms”, he
maintained.

Meanwhile, the former Chairman Business and Rules in the 7th Senate has urged the Akwa Ibom State government to do everything humanly possible to have a good working relationship with the APC-led Federal Government.

Sen. Enang noted that it is by so doing that the state would be able to benefit from the FG in terms of appointments and location of federal institutions.
