Algeria completed ‘mission impossible’, winning against Cameroon – their bogey side. The visitors scored late in the first half and comfortably held on to their lead throughout the second half
A free kick from Riyad Mahrez was headed in by Islam Slimani in the 41st minute to give Algeria a 1-0 lead at the Stade de Japoma, Douala, Cameroon.

Islam Slimani had initially come close to scoring when he got one on one with Andre Onana but he failed to convert the effort.
Rigobert Song’s men threw everything at Algeria. But the visitors defended with every bit of energy they can muster.
The home side won dangerous free-kicks in the dying minutes of the game, but squandered most of them with poor crosses.
Cameroon will now have to go away to Algeria and win with more than one goal to have any chance of going to Qatar, while Algeria need just a draw to progress.
