Inter Milan boss, Simeone Inzaghi, has blamed the 1-0 defeat to Man City in the Champions League final on Saturday night on his team’s inability to take their chances in front of goal.

Manchester City and Inter Milan faced each other in the final of this year’s UCL at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

It was a cagy affair which was settled with a lone goal by Spanish midfielder, Rodri, who scored in the 68th minute to help the Citizens win the competition for the first time in their history.

The English club had to survive a few scares when Federico Dimarco’s header bounced off the bar and Ederson made a stunning late save to deny Romelu Lukaku.

Prior to the encounter, Inter were looking to win the trophy for the first time since 2010 when they lifted it under Jose Mourinho.

However, the narrow loss to the Premier League Champions and his team’s missed chances has made Inzaghi reflect on what could have been.

“This is football – it’s from these disappointments that you grow. I’m still wondering how it was possible that we didn’t score at the end. We clearly deserved more.

“This final could be the fuel to try again next season. The team demonstrated they can play at this level. We had plenty of chances at the end, we deserved more. This was our game plan and we could have done even better,” Inzaghi told BT Sport.
