The Prelate, the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr Samuel Kanu-Uche, has advised traditional and political leaders in the North to urgently convene a conference for a lasting solution to insurgency in the region.

Kanu-Uche gave the advice on Friday in Abuja when he declared open the 29th Lay Council Conference of the church.
“I want to advise all the emirs and governors in the North to meet to find solution to the insurgency in the region, there should be no politicking about it,” he said.
He described members of the Boko Haram as hungry dogs ready to bite and devour, saying that urgent steps must be taken to address the menace of the sect.
The prelate also appealed to Nigerians to set aside their differences and support the government in tackling the insurgency.
Also, the leader of the Lay Council, Mr Jimmy Cooker, said the church would continue to support the fight against corruption and other vices in the country.
More than 200 members of the church are attending the three-day conference.
