Insecurity: Niger governor tasks monarchs on community policing

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has advised traditional rulers in the state to assist
government in the safeguarding of lives and properties of the residents.
He also urged them to educate their subjects and make them to be security conscious to monitor the activities of strangers in their
domains.
Governor Bello gave the advice when he paid a condolence visit to the Etsu Lapai, Alhaji Umar Bago Tafida, to commensurate with the people of Lapai Emirate over the armed robbery attacks in two commercial banks, which claimed three lives and left seven others seriously injured.
“Security should be everybody’s business. We are appealing on our royal fathers and indeed the traditional institution to be in the forefront mobilising their subjects to imbibe community policing by reporting any strange movements to security agencies,” the governor said.
Governor Bello accompanied by the new Commissioner of Police of the
state, Mr. Dibal Paul Yakadi, and other security chiefs, had
visited injured victims at the IBB Specialised Hospital, Minna where he also pledged that the state government would foot their medical
bills.
Meanwhile, Governor Abubarkar Sani-Bello has directed the new
Commissioner of Police in Niger State to fish out the criminals that attacked two commercial banks in Lapai.
Bello gave the directive when he received the new
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dibal Paul Yakadi, before they
paid a condolence visit to the victims of the armed robbery attacks at the IBB Specialised Hospital, Minna and in Lapai.
