President Muhammadu Buhari was received with boos on his arrival in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Wednesday, February 12.

The President visited the state to sympathize with the people over the latest Boko Haram killing of about 32 people in Auno, a town on the outskirt of Maiduguri.

Borno has been one of Buhari’s biggest strongholds. In the 2015 and 2019 elections, more than 90 per cent of the voters chose him.

But unlike his previous visits where the people would cheer him and call him mai gaskiya (the man who stands for the truth), this time, they told him ba ma so (we don’t want), a Hausa phrase for dismissing a non-performer.
