Ace Nollywood actress and movie producer, Ini Edo, has called for a regulatory structure that will guide the Nigeria movie industry, otherwise known as Nollywood.
She gave the advice on her Instagram page, while reacting to the death of her colleague, Pope Obumneme Odonwodo, aka Junior Pope.
Pope died after a boat conveying him, other actors and crew members capsized while crossing the River Niger for a movie shoot.
Following the development, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) barred actors from working with Adanma Luke, the producer of the movie which led to the death of the actor and three others.
Reacting to the ban, Ini Edo said the late thespian did not need to die before Nollywood realized there is a need for regulatory structure to be put in place.

She went on to describe Pope’s death as one sacrifice too many and urged that it must count for something.
Speaking while morning the actor on her verified social media page, she wrote: “Jnr Pope did not have to sacrifice his life for Nollywood to realize the need for a long and much needed regulatory structure that would safeguard an entire production .
“Yes .. every one is a producer now and all are guilty of negligence of some sort.. and this has to stop. This is one sacrifice too many and must count for something … The system has to undergo a total overhaul with practical rules and regulations that caters to everyone in cases of emergencies…. I will never understand why the good ones go so soon.
“Rest on brother … This one cuts really deep.”
