Ini Edo joins calls for 50 Cent to cast Nigerian as Hushpuppi in his TV series

Ini Edo made the plea after another actress, Uche Jumbo had urged the rapper to give a Nigerian actor the opportunity to play the role

Ace Nollywood actress, Ini Edo, has joined the growing list of Nigerian thespians urging American rapper and businessman, Curtis James Jackson III, better known as 50 Cent to cast a Nigerian in his upcoming TV series.

The rapper caused a buzz on social media days ago after sharing plans to commission a movie project based on the story of famous Nigerian swindler, Ramon Abbas (aka) Hushpuppi.

50 Cent, who produced hit series Power, Power Book II and Power Book III: Raising Kanan made the announcement on Instagram after a US Court sentenced Hushpuppi to eleven years in prison.

He wrote: “For my scammers, I gotta do this one. Hushpuppi series coming soon! GLGGreenLightGang I don’t miss.”

Reacting to the news on social media, Ini Edo thanked him for the offer and recommended that he should consider a Nigerian actor for the lead role.

She wrote, “you’re welcome, Nigerian actors are your best bet.”

The actress’ comments resonated with that of her counterpart, Uche Jumbo who had earlier pleaded with the rapper, actor and producer, to give a Nigerian actor the opportunity to play the same role.

Taking to 50 Cent’s comment section, the actress and filmmaker pleaded with the musician, saying “Please give a Nigeria actor the opportunity to play this character.”

Meanwhile, another Nollywood actor, Aremu Afolayan, who features more in Yoruba films recently urged 50 Cent to let him play the lead role in the eagerly anticipated movie.
