INEC begins distribution of PVC in 46 units in Kwara

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will on Saturday begin the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) in 46 polling units in Kwara.

 

 

Permanent Voter CardsA statement by Mr Jacob Ayanda, Deputy Director, Voter Education, on Friday, said the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Chief Timothy Ibitoye, had approved that the distribution of the PVC would end on Oct. 13 in the state.

The statement said the exercise would take place between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily at each polling unit.

It said the exercise was for those whose cards were not printed earlier when the PVCs were distributed in August.

 

 

He said the affected polling units were 41 in Ilorin West, one in Offa, two in Edu, one in Oke-Ero and one in Ifelodun local government areas of the state.

 

 

According to the statement, the exercise when completed, will enhance the franchise of the electorate.

 

 

The statement said the exercise would also make it convenient for many people to collect their voter cards.

 

 

“It is also to make sure that voters in the units have similar opportunities like those who collected earlier.

 

 

The statement therefore appealed to voters concerned to conduct themselves in orderly manners, adding that enough security would be provided to ensure peace and order at the collection points.

 

 

It also called on all Political Parties and Stakeholders to mobilise the voters to collect their cards.

 

 

It warned that no card would be given by proxy and urged affected voters to bring their temporary voter cards in exchange for the PVC.
