Imo SUBEB, NUT, mourn ex-school head

Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) have expressed shock over the death of Mrs. Phoebe Njoku, who until death was the Head Mistress of Obizi Town School in Ezinihitte-Mbaise Local Government Area, Imo State.

In a statement made available to the Daily Independent the officials of SUBEB and NUT in the State acknowledged that, it was stated that the late Mrs. Phoebe Njoku proved her mettle of leadership and professionalism during her days as the Headmistress of the school.

Aged 80, Mrs Njoku, who was the Mother of Chief Barrister Ezenwa Njoku, the chairman of Imo State Association of Customary Court Chairmen died after a brief illness.

 

The late Mrs Njoku was married to the late Nze Charles Njoku of Obizi Ezinihitte Mbaise and was survived by Eight (8) children among who are Mrs. Mercy Nwaziri, Engr. Edith Raymond, Mrs Chinyere Nzeakor, Mrs Kelechi Akinboyede, Mrs Nonyerem Seikeye, Nkemjika Njoku, Udemezue Njoku.

Describing her late mother as a role model among women, Chief Barrister Njoku said her contributions to socio-economic development of Obizi Community and also her boost to education sector in Imo State cannot be over-emphasized.

 

Her body will be buried soon after a funeral service at Saint Andrews Church, Obizi.
